The same idea applies to materials. Layering wood, stone, linen, brass, leather, ceramic, and glass creates richness and depth that simply isn't possible when every finish is identical.

While I absolutely believe in designing a home with a complete vision from the beginning, I also believe the best homes continue growing with the people who live in them.

Leave room for those moments.

Be open to rearranging furniture, swapping artwork between rooms, or making space for a new favorite find. As your life changes, your home should have the opportunity to grow with it. Those layers are often what make a home feel the most authentic.

If the answer is yes, it's probably worth bringing into your home.
