Wabi Sabi: Perfectly Imperfect is a full-home renovation in Austin, Texas, designed for a family of two professional chefs. Inspired by the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in imperfection, the home embraces natural materials, handcrafted details, and a warm, understated approach to luxury.
The renovation included the kitchen, primary suite, bathrooms, and outdoor kitchen, creating a cohesive experience throughout the home. At the heart of the design is a custom chef's kitchen where functionality and craftsmanship go hand in hand. Custom cabinetry, mosaic tile, and thoughtfully integrated lighting create a space that supports both everyday cooking and entertaining. Throughout the home, natural stone, white oak, plaster finishes, and organic forms bring a sense of calm and authenticity.
The result is a home that feels refined without being formal—balancing texture, warmth, and simplicity to create spaces that are both beautiful and deeply livable. Rooted in the principles of Wabi Sabi, the design celebrates character, craftsmanship, and the timeless beauty of natural materials.
